JBL Company HistoryJBL, an American audio electronics company founded by James Bullough Lansing in 1946 after leaving Altec Lansing a year before. Initially, the company was called Lansing Sound, Incorporated but was later changed to James B. Lansing Sound or JBL. The company primarily produces loudspeakers and related equipments. By mid 1950s, JBL became a major player in the audio market. JBL is also a major cinema loudspeaker manufacturer and their products actually form the basis for the development of THX loudspeaker standard.JBL composes of two independent divisions - the JBL Consumer (www.jbl.com) which produces audio equipments for the home market and the JBL Professionals (www.jblpro.com) produces equipments for the professional market such as studio, tours and cinema markets.
