Octiv Mini Description

The tiny Octiv Mini delivers big – clear, loud, rich and powerful sounds from a speaker system that’s barely 4 inches tall. Weighing just 2.4 ounces, it’s sleek and inconspicuous enough to put on a kitchen countertop, desk or a small table, but rivals systems double the size.

A bonus: It charges your iPhone or iPad simultaneously while playing. Play as you charge. It is compatible to all Phone and iPod models – just dock, play and charge.

The Octiv Mini is more than just a speaker, it’s also capable of waking you up, thanks to a free downloadable Alarm Rock App. It lets you add alarm functions to the Octiv Mini that will wake you up to music. It also has built-in shielded protection to make it free of interference from mobile devices.

  • Small rooms where space is an issue
  • Maximum sound in a miniature package
  • A system with with multiple features, such as charge as you play

Great value

I originally received this when I had the iPhone 3G. I found the speaker would only work properly if the Altec app was on the phone (this is true for the iPhone 4 as well). It wouldn't be so bad, except I find the app useless and nothing more than something taking up space on my phone. With the iPhone 3, I constantly got an error message that the device was not compatible after I would sync my phone with my computer. That would require me to power off my phone and restart it for the error message to go away. The speaker does not work if you get this message. That has improved with the iPhone 4 and I find I don't have that problem anymore. I would have ranked the value higher if the required app was of any use. I find the design to be great since it is super small and light weight making it extremely portable from room to room at home.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
It small! Fit's just about anywhere and is very portable. Good sound quality for such a small speaker.
Cons:
You have to have the useless Altec app on your phone for it to work properly. Error message with iPhone 3 A LOT.
